About the Organisation

Banyan House is a residential Therapeutic Community located in Darwin, Northern Territory offering a treatment for people recovering from alcohol and drug addictions and co-occurring mental health disorders.

The organisation provides:

About the Opportunity

Banyan House has a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiatic Finance and Office Manager to join its welcoming team in Berrimah, Darwin.

Reporting to the Director and Board, you will be responsible for Banyan House's financial functions to trial balance and daily office management. This will include processing grant applications, management reporting and analysis; invoice and payroll processing, plus staff supervision.

More specifically, the successful applicant will be required to:

  • Identify potential funding sources and prepare and submit high quality grant applications and supporting documentation;
  • Prepare/submit grant performance reports and acquittals;
  • Prepare the annual budget for Board ratification;
  • Prepare for approval and dissemination the Banyan House Annual Plan and Annual Report;
  • Prepare and circulate monthly Board Agendas and reports (i.e. Finance, Treatment Statistics) and minutes and schedule meetings in consultation with Board members and senior staff;
  • Supervise, train and assist as necessary, the finance/office services staff member in account and bookkeeping concepts, accounts and payroll processing in MYOB, and office administration;
  • Manage ICT, Audit and Finance Services support contracts and service provision;
  • Manage HR functions including staff recruitment; and
  • Manage Banyan's vehicle fleet finance and maintenance

Essentially an office management and bookkeeping role, Banyan House is seeking applicants who hold a minimum of five years experience in finance (including payroll) and office management, a high level knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping concepts and proficiency in MYOB, as well as broad commercial experience.

To succeed in this rewarding role you will be a leader by nature with experience in the provision of corporate services including HR and ICT is also required as is a demonstrated effectiveness in delivering timely, good quality services.

Your qualifications and experience will be supported by organisational and problem solving skills, as well as high level communication and interpersonal skills.

In addition, it would be highly regarded, but not essential to have bookkeeping qualifications and a knowledge of NGO funding arrangements including accessing and acquittal of grants. A knowledge/experience of Salary Sacrifice and Fringe Benefits Tax, experience in financial record keeping to Trust Account standard and knowledge of GST/PAYG/Superannuation concepts would also be held in high regard.

In return for your hard work and commitment you will enjoy a competitive salary circa $65k-$70k package and in addition to your wages, Banyan House employees may salary sacrifice up to $15,596 per annum tax-free, increasing the take-home value of your pay!
